Innovation Tax Credits Consultant
Gillian is a consultant who works with TAP as an Innovation Reliefs specialist. She trained as a Chartered Accountant (ACA) with PwC, worked there for nearly 10 years and has assisted companies in making successful claims for R&D Tax Relief since 2007.
As a core member of PwC’s national team, she initially led the firm’s North East R&D practice, and later held a national role as one of the firm’s R&D technical specialists. Since leaving PwC Gillian has led the Innovation Incentives team at the Tax Advisory Partnership, with over £4.5m of tax relief paid to her clients and a continued 100% success rate of agreeing claims with HMRC.
Gillian has assisted companies from a wide range of industries to make successful R&D claims, from software development, travel, and translation, to engineering, pharmaceuticals and mining. She has extensive experience of liaising with HMRC and provides her clients with practical and flexible advice to meet their individual circumstances.
Gillian has a 1st class honours degree in Physics from Imperial College which allows her to understand and effectively communicate her clients’ R&D activities to HMRC. She uses a proven methodology to ensure that claims are robust and maximised, while minimising the time required from her clients’ development and finance staff.
She also has in-depth knowledge of the Patent Box regime. This is another area which can provide a significant cash incentive for companies undertaking innovation, with more and more companies beginning to realise the benefits on offer.
Gillian is married with a young family and her spare time usually involves Lego, football or superheroes. When she gets a chance she also likes to catch up with friends, go walking, work on home renovation, play tennis and visit the cinema.
